STUDIO 20 LLC – EQUIPMENT INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

To protect Studio 20 LLC and its equipment inventory, every equipment rental requires either a Security Deposit Authorization or a Certificate of Insurance, depending on rental value. Renters remain fully responsible for equipment for the duration of the rental. These requirements apply to all equipment rented for use on-premises or off-site.

1. Certificate of Insurance

CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE (REQUIRED FOR RENTALS $5,000+; OPTIONAL ALTERNATIVE TO DEPOSIT FOR $1,500–$5,000)

Renter must provide a valid Certificate of Insurance (COI) that:

  • Names Studio 20 LLC, 1774 NW 20th ST Unit 2, Miami, FL 33142 as Additional Insured and Loss Payee

  • Includes coverage for rented equipment

  • Covers full replacement value of rented items

  • Includes theft, accidental damage, and transit coverage

  • Is valid for the full rental period

General Liability coverage alone is not sufficient. The policy must include Inland Marine Coverage or Rented Equipment Coverage. Studio 20 LLC reserves the right to verify the policy directly with the issuing carrier before equipment release. COIs can be emailed to insurance@studio20miami.com.

Providing a COI does not limit Renter's liability — see Renter Responsibility below.

2. Short-Term Equipment Insurance

2. DON'T HAVE INSURANCE? GET SHORT-TERM COVERAGE

Renters without existing coverage can obtain a short-term policy meeting the above requirements from a licensed insurer, such as Athos (getmyathos.com), Front Row Insurance (frontrowinsurance.com), or Hill & Usher PackageChoice (packagechoice.com). Proof of coverage must be submitted and approved prior to equipment release.

3. Security Deposit Authorization

SECURITY DEPOSIT AUTHORIZATION (AVAILABLE FOR RENTALS UNDER $5,000)

Renter must authorize a temporary security deposit equal to 100% of the total replacement value of rented equipment, held on a valid credit card (debit cards and checks not accepted). This is a hold, not a charge — nothing is deducted unless damage or loss occurs. The hold is authorized at pickup and released following inspection upon return.

Renter is fully responsible and liable for the equipment for the entire rental period, regardless of the cause or fault of any damage, loss, or theft. The deposit does not limit or cap this liability — if repair or replacement costs exceed the deposit amount, Renter is responsible for the remaining balance.

Equipment Value Thresholds

To balance operational flexibility with risk management, the following thresholds apply:

  • Under $1,500 — Security deposit required (no COI substitute at this tier)

  • $1,500–$5,000 — Security deposit OR Certificate of Insurance, Renter's choice

  • $5,000+ — Certificate of Insurance or short-term Inland Marine coverage required (deposit is not accepted at this tier due to credit card authorization limits)

Studio 20 LLC reserves the right to require insurance at its sole discretion based on scope, duration, risk profile, or rental history. Renters without existing coverage may obtain instant short-term rented equipment insurance from Athos Insurance: athosinsurance.com/buy-equipment-insurance

Renter Responsibility

Renter assumes full responsibility for the equipment during the rental period, regardless of the cause or fault of any damage, loss, or theft. Equipment must:

  • Not be left unattended in unsecured vehicles

  • Be transported securely

  • Be stored safely when not in use

  • Not be operated by untrained or unauthorized individuals

Renter must report any damage, malfunction, or suspected theft to Studio 20 LLC immediately, and no later than the scheduled return time. Damage discovered upon return that was not reported during the rental period remains Renter's responsibility regardless of when or how it occurred. Renter is responsible for any insurance deductibles resulting from a claim during the rental period.

Definition of Replacement Value

Replacement value is defined as the current retail cost to replace equipment with new equipment of equal or greater specification at the time of loss.

Assumption of Risk

Renter assumes all risk associated with the use, handling, transport, and operation of rented equipment, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, and physical hazards. Studio 20 LLC is not liable for any injury, death, or property damage arising from Renter's use of equipment, whether on-premises or off-site. Renter is responsible for ensuring all equipment is operated safely and only by trained, authorized individuals

Failure to comply with these requirements will result in cancellation or refusal of equipment release.
